Range TubeThe tube is configured as a "broad range" type, using small spacing between electrodes and providing a conductive coating on the inside of the tube's glass envelope. The coating is usually connected externally to one end of the filament or to ground. The tube uses a thoria-coated iridium filament as described for the BA-2 above.
The broad-range design improves the tube's performance at high pressure. The nominal gauge factor for this tube is 6/Torr with the internal shield connected to one side of the filament.
In the drawing the pins for the filament are labeled F and the ends of the grid are attached to the pins labeled G. The shield is connected to the pin labeled S. The ion collector wire passes through the top of the tube. To connect this tube to the IGC-10 Ion Gauge Control use cable CBL-1 and make the desired connection to the internal shield, ground or one side of the filament, with a clip lead.
