The
CT was the workhorse tube for high vacuum work until it was largely supplanted
by the BA tube. The tube’s performance in the range between 1x10-4
and 1x10-2 Torr is much better that the BA; it will
work just as well as the BA tube at pressure above 1×10-7 Torr
where its high X-ray limit is inconsequential. The tube is available with either a single tungsten filament,
CT-1, or Conventional Triode, CT-2. The
nominal gauge factor for this tube is 16/Torr.
In the drawing the pins for the filament are labeled F and the ends of the grid are attached to the pins labeled G. The pin labeled C is connected to the collector electrode. To connect this tube to the IGC-10 Ion Gauge Control use cable CBL-1.
